Sydney Uni rejected me for a bachelor’s so I got a master’s.

Graduating with a Master of Marketing, November 2018

I was denied admission for a Bachelor’s of Commerce in Marketing at Sydney University.
It was the only one I applied for.
In fact, being told ‘no’ without enlightening reasons made me want it even more.

I’ve already done my research.
I had attended conferences, spoken with different universities and faculty members before I made a decision to apply. This was how I could reconnect with a Professor whom I met at a conference months before. I had already consulted him about my plans of applying. This came handy. I learnt that an endorsement from a faculty member could overturn the rejection.

While he didn't know me enough to put his name against a recommendation,
I somehow convinced him to give me a shot.
For a whole semester, I sat in his class, did the entire coursework so he could assess me and decide afterwards.

By the end of that semester, he recommended me for the Master’s.

This is who I am.
I am ambitious.
I am brave.
I am tenacious.

And above all that, I deliver mind-blowing excellence.
